The last Flashpoint update was massive, and this week's Arc Raiders update was unexpectedly delayed. Now, an emergency hotfix update has been released, fixing some strange spots in the game. I'll now give you a detailed overview of today's hotfixes.
Today's 1.23.0 update primarily focuses on fixing and adjusting game stability and gameplay.
This update includes 23 patches. While not the largest patch we've seen in terms of quantity, this update does include some significant changes affecting gameplay and stability.
New Appearances
A new Vanguard set has been added to the store. This is one of Flashpoint and Beyond featured cosmetic bundles. This set includes a Vanguard outfit, three different color schemes, and more customization options such as a helmet, mask, pauldron, sleeves, chest pouch, leg pouch, and leg combat teddy bear straps. It also includes a backpack and a worn-out helmet.
Currently priced at 1600 Raider tokens, it will be displayed at a discounted price. The discounts may only be limited-time offers during the launch period, and the exact duration is uncertain. For example, Brigade set updated last week is still on sale. You can check it out if you're interested.
Throwable and Quick Wheel Fixes
This update focuses more on game fixes. Let's take a look at the fixes. First, let's talk about the more important parts of this update.
Trigger fix addresses an issue where detonating two adjacent Triggers would sometimes cause triple damage. Two Triggers exploding at very close range would cause significantly more damage than expected, a bug that PvP players sometimes exploited. This has been a point of contention for players.
Quick Wheel is very useful in many situations, especially when players are experiencing the new Close Scrutiny mode. If there are many Arcs around, you can quickly switch to stealth, smoke, shield chargers, or other abilities.
An issue appeared after the Flashpoint update: after quickly switching to a flashbang on Quick Wheel, there was a delay, and you couldn't use the item immediately. This issue has now been resolved and should no longer cause any problems.
Weapon Reload Fix
Automatic weapon firing was another bug players encountered. Sometimes, right after reloading, the weapon would automatically fire the next bullet.
For some scenarios and weapons, this might just be an annoying bug, but for weapons like Pharaoh, where the chamber can only hold one bullet, this bug would be fatal. This update should alleviate the weapon reload fix bug.
Rocketeer Audio Restored
When Rocketeer locks onto you in any situation other than close-range observation, it emits the same sound as Vaporizer. You can almost immediately detect it. Now, Rocketeer's audio has been restored; you will no longer hear Vaporizer's or standard modes' sounds.
These kinds of bugs occur frequently but are easily overlooked during game development. Because they all come from the same ARC type, they might trigger signals that cause reversed wiring, resulting in simultaneous audio playback.
However, this isn't a major problem. If you can use audio cues to determine which targets are hostile to you in the game, it will be very helpful.
Fixed Crash Issues Across Platforms
The crash issue was also mentioned in this update, and I've seen many discussions about it. They reported that certain visual effects that could cause crashes have been fixed. Now, when you launch the game on Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox, you'll be prompted to download it.
However, reports of game crashes persist after the update, especially on PlayStation 5 Pro and other console versions. Undeniably, we are continuing to investigate all cases causing crashes. While some issues have been partially fixed, it doesn't seem to be completely resolved.
Tripping Over Something at Edge While Jumping
Have you ever wondered why you might fall a great distance after tripping over a small step or railing without taking any damage? That's because you might be experiencing a tripping bug.
This bug pauses all your movement and momentum, and it has existed since Flashpoint version. Sometimes you can use it to negate fall damage, sometimes it's just visually annoying, and in severe cases, you might fall out of the world.
This issue doesn't seem to be fully fixed or resolved. So, if you jump, you might still randomly fall or trip over something in mid-air.
Fixed Weapon Upgrade UI display error
They fixed an issue where Weapon Upgrade UI was displaying the wrong upgrade level. Specifically, the display error was from tier 4 to tier 5, which isn't currently present in the game.
This change has been present since Flashpoint update. However, I always felt this might be an extension of the early-released upgrade feature.
ARC Assessors mechanic fix
All ARCs summoned by ARC Assessors will now leave the area and disappear if idle for an extended period.
The good news is that when someone eliminates an ARC Assessor, the summoned ARCs disappear, so you won't encounter a large group of ARCs to deal with when passing through the area.
The bad news is that it's harder to directly rush towards ARC Assessors, use smoke grenades to blend into the smoke, grab ARC Raiders Items, and leave. Rocketeers and Vaporizers will no longer exhibit abnormal behavior when idle.
Other minor spots
- An issue where players experienced their camo getting stuck when switching shoulder armor.
- Players can now use Anvil Splitter without any penalty for dispersion.
- Zip lines can no longer be placed on Barricades.
- Medical Research's locked room sometimes causes players to catch fire even when they are outdoors, preventing them from using the glitch to pass through the door.
- Spots on Stella's map where players can be hit by bullets through the floor.
- The issue of stairs and buried cities sometimes disappearing.
- The issue of the code printer on locked doors sometimes being nonreactive.
Update
Regarding the delayed update, I expect it to be back to normal by next Tuesday. Some unresolved issues in this update may be fixed, but the biggest update will arrive later this month.
This update, named Riven Tides, will include a new map, a new large ARC, and Expedition Window will be available soon.
What are your thoughts on this update? What improvements have you seen, and what improvements weren't ideal? Feel free to share your opinions.
