Have you noticed that over the years, more and more industries have embraced cross-industry collaborations? This applies not only to the same industry but also to different brands. Why is this so? What are the benefits of collaboration?
In today’s rapidly developing 5G era, products without market awareness are difficult for consumers to discover. Collaborations with other industries and brands are a marketing tool.
The same is true for the gaming industry. Recently, two games, Diablo Immortal and Hearthstone, have collaborated.
About The Limited-Time Collaboration Event
Diablo Immortal, a spin-off action role-playing mobile game, will collaborate with Hearthstone, a turn-based collectible card game, for a limited-time event. This event will last for nearly a month, during which players can collect 18 Hearthstone cards in Immortal.
These cards each exert unique effects during gameplay, such as buffs, temporary cooldown reduction, and transformations, providing powerful benefits as players tackle game quests and helping them earn more Diablo Immortal Platinum.
In addition, Diablo Immortal players who use new cards and a Legendary Gem that provides bonus mana in a special limited-time game mode have a chance to receive new skins and gear, as well as new appearances that match Warcraft characters Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind.
Players Question The Promotional Poster
To attract more players to the collaboration, the game developers created a promotional poster. However, even before the event began, the poster drew criticism from some players.
Some players suspected the poster was AI-generated. In the official poster, the card in Classes’ hand is mirrored, the hand shape is odd, and the pendant on his body looks like it was originally attached to his body.
Also, there are two servings of food on the table, one of which is served on a plate. The plate under another serving of food had vanished, having been left on the table, looking quite sloppy.
Clearly, these minor details were illogical, and players couldn’t believe a human designer could create such a flawed poster.
Additionally, some pointed out that Class’s ears were his most distinctive feature, and if they weren’t AI-generated, they would have been perfectly rendered, yet this image failed to do so.
Many players accused the game developers of saving costs by not hiring a genuine artist; professional matters should be left to professionals. Furthermore, players paid real money to obtain Diablo Immortal Eternal Orb, and that real money ultimately went to the game developers.
A deeper look revealed that this wasn’t the first time Diablo Immortal developers had used AI. Last year, the game developers removed a number of skins accused of being AI-created. They even replaced some employees with AI.
In my opinion, Diablo Immortal’s new Hearthstone collaboration event brings new content to the game and offers players new possibilities. It’s quite interesting and worth exploring.
However, AI will never replace humans, especially in the field of art. The people involved in the development and design of Diablo Immortal approach the game with emotion and logic, unlike AI, which simply creates a crude synthesis.
