Recently, Obsidian revealed that The Outer Worlds 2 will deeply reconstruct RPG system, emphasizing personalized character creation rather than the “universal hero” setting in the previous game.

The Outer Worlds 2 will introduce up to 90 talent bonuses to support players to try extreme gameplay, including playing as a “killing maniac”. Design director Matt Singh said that they designed many talents to serve non-traditional gameplay. If players want to kill every people on sight, they can choose talents such as mental illness and serial killer, which will not only not punish you, but will bring rewards such as permanent health value increase.

In The Outer Worlds 2, players can still kill any NPC freely, and the system will react and allow the game to continue to advance. It is a unique experience suitable for two or more rounds of play.

Chief system designer Kyle Koenig added that the game will adopt a “trade-off” system. Some negative traits will weaken the character’s ability, but they can also exchange for more attribute points and strengthen other areas, thereby encouraging differentiated character construction.

The game cancels the option of re-adding points in the game. Once a player invests in a skill, talent or trait, he must stick to it. If you want to change the way to add points, you can only restart. Koenig said that they hope to provide a unique gaming experience for each player. The reset mechanism will weaken this uniqueness.

The Outer Worlds 2 will also have a larger map for players to explore than the previous game. It will be released in 2025 and will be launched on PS5, XSX|S and PC (Steam), and will be first added to Game Pass.
