WoW Forever Confirmed Changes & Player Wishlist: Class Balance and Auction House Updates

WoW Forever launched globally on November 4th, and many players have already spent some time exploring the game. Naturally, some aspects of the gameplay have left players feeling dissatisfied—and the developers have taken note of this feedback. In this article, I will outline upcoming changes as well as other suggestions that have gained significant traction within the player community.

Upcoming Changes

Auction House Deposit Costs

Many players use Auction House to earn WoW Forever gold, but they have encountered an issue: the deposit costs are unreasonable.

When listing an item, a deposit fee is charged. Currently, this fee is calculated based on an item's vendor value (price an NPC would pay for it). However, there is a minimum threshold: you must pay a deposit of at least one silver even if the item itself is worth less than that.

This minimum threshold is clearly unreasonable. Consequently, WoW Classic+ team will soon lower this requirement, reducing the minimum deposit to just one copper.

Since official launch of WoW Forever, players have identified several shortcomings in combat system. Here are the areas set to receive adjustments:

Pets and Summons

Players who played as Warlocks or Hunters during the test phase will know that their pets were nerfed upon the game's official release.

Although not widely discussed by the broader player base, it is clear that survivability of Hunter pets and Warlock Voidwalkers in WoW Classic+ is currently below expectations and requires a buff.

Personally, I believe these pets are still capable enough to handle the current content; however, a buff is certainly welcome news for Warlock and Hunter players! The developers are prioritizing this change, with a hotfix scheduled for November 10th.

Warlock Ability Adjustments

Many players have pointed out that Warlock ability Drain Soul has become so prioritized that it overshadows all other spells. In combat, players often find that they don't need to cast anything else—simply channeling Drain Soul is sufficient.

WoW Forever Warlock

Although Warlocks possess a wide array of Damage-over-Time (DoT) spells, their effectiveness and damage output pale in comparison to Drain Soul. Players have questioned why so many abilities were designed if only one is truly viable.

In response, WoW Forever team plans to implement adjustments. The goal is to make other DoT spells worth casting alongside Drain Soul, thereby increasing the diversity of Warlock's rotation. This likely implies that other Warlock abilities will be buffed, while the damage dealt by Drain Soul may see a reduction.

Shaman Stat Adjustments

Many Shaman players have discovered that, in practice, stacking Intellect and Spell Power is far more effective than focusing on Strength and Attack Power. This is counterintuitive; ideally, a Shaman's primary focus should be Strength and Attack Power, with Intellect and Spell Power serving as secondary stats. The current meta has effectively inverted this priority.

The developers have stated that they intend to rebalance Shaman stats to ensure that Strength remains the most powerful primary attribute. This should eliminate the need for Shamans to pursue gear intended for Mage-like classes.

Shaman players should take note: once the update goes live, it will be time to move away from weak caster gear and start collecting new equipment focused on boosting Strength.

Player Suggestions

The points above cover upcoming changes for WoW Forever. However, the player community has also been actively discussing other areas that they believe require optimization.

Reducing the Complexity of Attunement

For many newcomers to WoW Forever, Attunement system acts as a significant barrier, hindering their ability to engage more deeply with the game.

For instance, the attunement questline for Tempest Keep has proven so daunting that it discourages many new players right from the very first step. Ultimately, this limits the pool of potential recruits available for later raid content. The reason for this is simple: players want to avoid the tedious and time-consuming attunement processes. It is clearly necessary to reduce the complexity of these tasks.

Expanding Avenues for Obtaining PvP Gear

As WoW Classic+ has just launched, players can earn Honor points through PvP, which can then be exchanged for more powerful PvP gear.

Some players are concerned about what might happen if they fail to acquire PvP gear they want before a season ends. A common suggestion is to provide a way to obtain gear from previous seasons once a new season begins.

This approach would ensure that all players have a reliable path to obtaining the gear they desire, alleviating concerns about strict time constraints.

In summary, I have detailed the upcoming changes for WoW Forever. It is evident that the developers are attentive to player feedback and are making timely adjustments in response to popular requests. I hope they maintain this proactive attitude toward future optimizations; doing so will be key to ensuring the game's long-term, healthy operation.
